Brazilian influencer suffers xenophobia by American in New York: ‘Go back to your country’Reproduction/TikTok

Content creator Marcela Montellato was the victim of xenophobia by an American woman while walking through New York. The Brazilian was invited to meet actress Blake Lively and other celebrities at the premiere of the actress’s new film, “That’s How It Ends“, but ended up being attacked by the woman.

In the video shared on social networks, Marcela recounts the experience with the celebrities when she was approached by the American. The woman says she is a New Yorker and complains that she was talking too loudly.

“Can you stop screaming in our ear? You’re not acting like a normal person. (…) Are you from another country? (…) Go back to your country,” curses the aggressor.

Then, Marcela counters and states that she was talking in a normal tone of voice. “I’m not screaming. I can be loud as much as I want. So, people. That’s how New Yorkers are, very polite, very cute,” she mocked when talking to the camera.

To g1, Marcela explained that she did not file a complaint because she had already suffered other “complicated” situations during the trip.

“Unfortunately, no one from the place, besides the Brazilian who was with me, defended me. It was a bizarre situation, because when she said ‘New Yorkers are all like this’ or ‘go back to your country’, no one did anything at all but look at the situation. [It was] Almost as if they agreed with her. I decided I wouldn’t press charges, because I had already dealt with some complicated Americans on that trip and I was sure that this type of behavior was normal,” he said.
